Insights from 500 members of MyCrohnsAndColitisTeam, a Swoop community, reveal the treatment benefits, barriers and desired outcomes shaping IBD care.
IBD has a significant impact on daily life, with 88% of respondents across both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis reporting a negative impact on their quality of life.
Patients currently using these treatments reported benefits ranging from reduced symptom severity and restroom frequency to decreased abdominal pain and slower disease progression. The findings also reveal important barriers among those who have never used an advanced immunotherapy, including limited awareness and concerns about side effects or safety. Together, these perspectives reinforce the value of patient education and informed conversations with gastroenterologists in supporting better treatment decisions and health outcomes.
